Shadow Home Secretary pledges £283 million yacht money to tackle anti-social behaviour

Labour would spend £283m yacht money on tackling anti-social behaviour

Shadow home secretary Nick Thomas-Symonds has told BBC Breakfast how he would use the £283m earmarked for a royal yacht on tackling anti-social behaviour in the UK if Labour were to lead the next government.

Thomas-Symonds labelled the plans for the project as being “vanity” – and cited the two million incidents of anti-social behaviour recorded in the UK last year as being an area the government should be concentrating their resources on.

The Labour MP is due to deliver his speech at the party’s annual conference in Brighton on Tuesday (28 September).
