i Editor's Letter: Your chance to ask the PM a question

What would you ask the Prime Minister, if you had the opportunity? Well, now you do.

David Cameron has agreed to answer questions from i readers. As a constituency – truly national, politically engaged, intelligent, demographically diverse – you are now important enough to be able to book space in the 10 Downing Street diary.

It’s your chance to ask the PM about that issue eating away at you. We would like questions from across the political spectrum, on health, housing, jobs, schools and universities, the cost of living, immigration, welfare, crime, pensions, families... and any other topics that appeal.

Rather than hand out Mr Cameron’s personal email address, the way it works is this:

1) You email your question to us (i@independent.co.uk) by 7pm this coming Monday, 25 November. The sooner the better, as we will start compiling the longlist straight away.

2) We’ll select the best and give them to Downing Street. The Prime Minister answers them.

3) Your questions and Mr Cameron’s answers will run in i at the end of next week.

My tips: keep questions fairly pithy. Try to think of topics that have a broader resonance, which might appeal to other readers. And if you’re not a political supporter of the Coalition, please keep them civil! The aim of the exercise is an informed political dialogue, which leaves us all knowing more about the Prime Minister and the Government than we did before we started.
