This week, as part of our Save the Tiger campaign, we at The Independent have tried to show you some of the threats that tigers face; from the poaching of Amur tigers in Russia to those being bred for their bones in China.

We have also shown you some of the efforts that have been enacted to help improve the situation of these wonderful animals. As a final message we would like to share with you some of the steps you can take today to help tigers in the wild. Any help you can provide will make a big difference - we hope you have enjoyed Tiger Week!

1. Adopt a tiger

Why not get personally involved in the survival of a tiger by adopting one of these beautiful animals? For just £60 you could drastically improve the situation of a wild tiger by restoring one hectare of grassland to increase the tiger prey population in Nepal’s Terai Arc.

2. Donate to WWF Russia’s projects here!

This project is run by the WWF-Russia Amur branch in collaboration with the Nordens Ark Zoo (Sweden). It envisions increasing tiger prey populations, creating and supporting anti-poaching groups and raising awareness in the local population.

3. Avoid all endangered animal products

In order to combat the rampant poaching of endangered species it is essential to end the demand for such animal products. You can help end the illegal animal trade by avoiding all products and retailers that have any connection to the trade of endangered animals.

4. Get involved

You can show your support by signing a petition to end the tiger trade here.

Or write to your MP to remind them of the importance of strong legislation regarding the illegal trade of tiger products. Find contact information for your local MP here.

5. Spread awareness

Stay up-to-date with the latest conservation news by liking WWF’s facebook and twitter pages.

Alternatively, you can donate a tweet per day to WWF, whereby WWF will share a tweet on your behalf, by signing up here.
