Last Sunday left-wing commentator Mehdi Hasan wrote a column on abortion in the New Statesman in which he argued that a "pro-life" position was compatible with left-wing views. Cue Twitter-storm.
This morning he appeared on Radio 4's Today programme to debate the issue with pro-choice columnist Suzanne Moore. Diane Abbott MP (@HackneyAbbott) tweeted "Just listened to @medhirhasan on @BBCr4today describing himself as pro-life and posing as a victim."
To which @medhirhasan responded: "posing? Are you saying I haven't been subjected to relentless abuse on twitter? Or are you okay with that?"
Yesterday Hasan published an interesting blog on The Huffington Post called 10 Things I Learned From Debating Abortion On Twitter and Musa Okwonga has also made a contribution to the debate on Independent Voices here.
The storm rages on.
