The most basic role of job interviews is turning up on time, hell, even early just to be safe.

You'd think the Skills Minister would know this.

Matthew Hancock missed his early morning slot on ITV1’s Daybreak after turning up too late.

Ironically, he was scheduled to speak about a training scheme which prepares young people for work.

He claimed he was only 30 seconds late, but later said:

“It proves the point: you’ve got to be on time for work or there are consequences. I’ll learn from my own example.”

As Shakespeare once said:

Better three hours too soon than a minute too late.
