Adding to editor of Conservative Home Tim Montgomerie's suggestion that come 2018 our columnist would be leader of the 'Green and Justice Party', now it's been predicted - by Dan Hodges in Total Politics - that a position as Ed Miliband's Parliamentary Private Secretary is more likely.

Of a future role in parliament Jones himself is less certain: "I imagine I'd spend the first week getting IDed in the Parliamentary bars", he says.

But perhaps there's no need for the Chavs author to take up a position in Westminster just yet - GQ ranked him above George Osborne and Ed Miliband in their 2012 list of most influential men.
