  • The 2025 Booker Prize longlist has been announced, with the chair of judges, Roddy Doyle, describing it as potentially the best selection in the award's 56-year history.
  • The longlist includes five British authors: Natasha Brown, Jonathan Buckley, Andrew Miller, Benjamin Wood, and the Hungarian-British writer David Szalay.
  • It also includes the highest number of different nationalities in a decade.
  • Nine of the 13 longlisted authors are first-time nominees, while former winner Kiran Desai returns, aiming to become the fifth double winner of the prestigious literary award.
  • The shortlist of six titles is set to be unveiled on 23 September, with the winner, who will receive £50,000, announced at a ceremony in London on 10 November.
