- It also includes the highest number of different nationalities in a decade.
- Nine of the 13 longlisted authors are first-time nominees, while former winner Kiran Desai returns, aiming to become the fifth double winner of the prestigious literary award.
- The shortlist of six titles is set to be unveiled on 23 September, with the winner, who will receive £50,000, announced at a ceremony in London on 10 November.
