Bruce Willis’s wife reveals why she chose to speak out about his diagnosis

Bruce Willis’s wife says actor’s ‘language is going’ as he battles dementia
  • Emma Heming Willis, the wife of actor Bruce Willis, has detailed the distressing manner in which she learned of her husband's frontotemporal dementia (FTD) diagnosis in November 2022.
  • She recounted feeling overwhelmed and unsupported after the neurologist delivered the news, which prompted her to undertake her own research into the rare condition.
  • She said she was initially “too scared to say anything to anyone” about the diagnosis.
  • However, she later realised it would be beneficial to talk about it and raise awareness “so people get to the doctor sooner, can be diagnosed sooner, get into clinical trials”.
  • Heming Willis initially isolated her family, restricting her daughters' social activities due to the intensive demands of her husband’s 24/7 care. He has since been moved to a separate one-story house.
