Italian movie star Claudia Cardinale dies at 87

  • Her agent, Laurent Savry, confirmed her passing, stating she leaves a legacy as a “free and inspired woman and artiste”.
  • Cardinale was renowned for her roles in classic films such as 8 1/2, Once Upon a Time in the West, and The Pink Panther.
  • Born in Tunis in 1938, her career began after winning a beauty contest in 1957, leading to her film debut in 1958.
  • She is survived by her children, Claudia Squitieri and Patrick Cristaldi.
