Colin Firth’s ex-wife shreds MBE certificate whilst slamming Charles for Trump’s state visit
Colin Firth's ex wife hands back MBE as she slams King Charles for 'appeasing' Trump
Livia Firth, the ex-wife of Colin Firth, has returned her MBE in protest against King Charles hosting US President Donald Trump during his recent state visit.
The 56-year-old activist, recognised for services to sustainable fashion, posted an Instagram video on Wednesday (24 September) showing her tearing up the certificate.
Firth stated she was “shredding” her honour and “returning it to the sender” due to her belief that the monarch “appeased and honoured and legitimised” Mr Trump.
In a letter, she expressed disappointment that King Charles, despite his decades of environmental advocacy, hosted someone she described as a “horrible excuse for a human”.
