Former Doctor Who showrunner offers advice for next Time Lord

Ncuti Gatwa leaves Doctor Who as Billie Piper returns
  • Former Doctor Who showrunner Steven Moffat says the next Doctor should be “attractive, but odd”.
  • Speaking to Radio Times, Moffat said: “There's something utterly odd, a sort of benevolent, kindly, slightly incompetent impersonation of a human being. The Doctor is never quite right."
  • It comes after Billie Piper made a surprise return to Doctor Who at the end of season 15, appearing to replace Ncuti Gatwa as the lead after his regeneration.
  • Piper, who previously played companion Rose Tyler, described her return as a last-minute decision and an emotional experience to film.
  • Moffat said he believes the current producers are keeping their options open regarding Piper's exact role and he has no insider information.
