Dolly Parton has put new music on hold following the death of her husband, Carl Dean, who passed away in March 2025 after almost 60 years of marriage.
Appearing on Khloé Kardashian’s podcast, Khloé in Wonder Land, Parton revealed she is struggling with writer’s block as she processes her grief.
She explained that she cannot afford the luxury of getting emotional right now and is therefore postponing new musical projects.
Carl Dean, who famously shunned the limelight, inspired some of Parton’s biggest hits, including “Jolene”.
Parton has stated that her faith has been a source of strength, and she feels her husband’s presence, intending to channel her energy into her work to keep him ever-present.
