Julian Fellowes hints at more Downton Abbey – in a different era
Downton Abbey producer hints grand finale film may not spell end for franchise
Downton Abbey creator Julian Fellowes has indicated that he is open to revisiting the franchise, saying he has "learned never to say never anymore".
His remarks follow the release of the third film, Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale, which is currently in cinemas.
Fellowes suggested any future projects would need to be set in a different historical period to explore new problems and issues.
The latest film concludes the story of the 7th Earl of Grantham, Robert Crawley, as he attempts to pass down his estate amidst family financial troubles.
Producer Gareth Neame also hinted that while the central characters' journeys conclude, the Downton universe itself might not be finished.
