A New Mexico judge will decide whether to seal records related to the deaths of actor Gene Hackman and his wife, Betsy Arakawa, following a request from the family's estate.
The family is seeking to protect their privacy by preventing the release of photos, videos, and documents from the investigation.
Hackman, 95, died of heart disease complicated by Alzheimer's, while Arakawa, 65, died from hantavirus pulmonary syndrome.
Authorities have concluded their investigation into the deaths, revealing that one of the couple's dogs was also found dead, but have not released the full records.
The lawsuit also seeks to prevent the release of autopsy reports on the couple’s bodies.
