Giorgio Armani, the influential Italian fashion designer and empire builder, has died at the age of 91.
He founded his eponymous label in 1975, expanding it into an international luxury empire that included clothing, accessories, cosmetics, hotels and restaurants.
Armani is widely recognised for revolutionising women's professional wear in the 1980s, introducing elegant and wearable suits for the office.
Known for dressing Hollywood stars and maintaining his company's independence, he was Italy's second-richest man before his death.
Despite his vast success, Armani remained deeply involved in the day-to-day operations of his brand, expressing a fear of losing control of his namesake label.
