Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay was the latest victim of a 'swatting' prank after a hoax caller falsely reported he had been shot.
The incident took place at Ramsay's Bel Air home in Los Angeles, though he was not in the United States at the time.
LAPD responded to the call, but quickly determined it was a hoax after speaking with a staff member at the property.
'Swatting' is defined as making prank calls to emergency services to trigger a significant police response, potentially including a SWAT team, at a specific location.
Other public figures, including Jennifer Aniston, Rihanna, and Justin Bieber, have been targeted by similar hoaxes, with a likely 'swatting' incident also reported at the White House.
