Veteran broadcaster John Stapleton has died in hospital at the age of 79.
His agent confirmed he passed away on Sunday morning due to Parkinson’s disease, which was complicated by pneumonia.
Stapleton was widely known for his extensive work on ITV breakfast television, the BBC's Watchdog and Nationwide, and programmes such as Newsnight and Panorama.
Throughout his distinguished career, he reported on major global events, including the Falklands War, US elections, and the 2004 Boxing Day tsunami.
Tributes have been paid by colleagues across the broadcasting industry, who praised his versatility, kindness, and professionalism.
