Why Gen Z can’t get enough of National Trust sites
National Trust welcomes first 'green corridor' outside historic Bath
The National Trust has reported a 39 per cent year-on-year increase in membership sign-ups among 18- to 25-year-olds.
More than 40,000 young people joined between March 2024 and February 2025, with initial insights indicating a further 16 per cent rise in the current financial year.
The charity attributes this growth to young people's strong interest in history and heritage, alongside the recognised physical and mental health benefits of spending time in nature.
This surge in young members contrasts with a slight fall in overall membership numbers, though paying visitors to its sites increased by 5 per cent.
The National Trust is actively working to meet the needs of younger audiences, including establishing the Re-Generation Challenge Group as a youth network.
