Adolescence actor thanks co-star Erin Doherty after beating her to award
Adolescence star Owen Cooper's audition tape for hit Netflix show released
Owen Cooper, the 15-year-old actor from the Netflix series Adolescence, won his first major award at the 35th Gotham Awards for Outstanding Supporting Performance in a Limited Series.
Cooper, who had never booked an acting job before Adolescence, dedicated the award to his co-star Erin Doherty, who was also nominated in the same category.
In his acceptance speech, Cooper thanked Doherty, director Philip Barantini, producer Joe Johnson, Stephen Graham, Hannah Walters, and his parents.
Adolescence was nominated for four Gotham Awards and won three, including Breakthrough Limited Series and Outstanding Lead Performance for Stephen Graham.
Industry insiders predict Cooper will be nominated for Best Supporting Actor at the Emmy Awards, potentially becoming the youngest male winner in the award's history.
