  • Paul Mario Day, the original frontman of heavy metal band Iron Maiden, has died at the age of 69.
  • His death was confirmed by the band More, whom he also fronted, stating he passed away peacefully at his home in Newcastle, Australia, on Tuesday.
  • Day became Iron Maiden's first vocalist in December 1975, performing their inaugural gig in May 1976 before leaving the band less than a year later.
  • Throughout his career, Day also fronted other notable bands including More, Wildfire, and a reformed version of the glam rock band Sweet in 1985.
  • Tributes have been paid by Iron Maiden, More, and Sweet's Andy Scott, all acknowledging his significant contribution to British music.
