Eastenders actor reveals financial struggles after breast cancer treatment
Actress Samantha Womack recalls 'random check' that led to cancer diagnosis
Samantha Womack, known for her role inEastenders, underwent a year and a half of treatment for Grade 3 invasive duct carcinoma, a fast-spreading breast cancer.
Womack has now revealed her financial struggles, saying her bank account was "creaking" due to turning down acting jobs both during and after her treatment.
She explained that self-employment in acting means no pay during periods of not working, and she chose "gentle" roles due to low self-esteem and emotional recovery post-treatment.
Womack said her cancer diagnosis, which she sought out via a private check-up despite feeling fine, has led her to have a more enlightened, humbler, and calmer outlook on life.
