Adam Scott, known for 'Severance', revealed that losing the role of David Fisher in HBO's 'Six Feet Under' was a particularly "painful" career rejection.
The part ultimately went to Michael C. Hall, who Scott acknowledged was perfectly cast for the role.
Scott admitted that the rejection was so devastating it made him consider quitting acting, as 'Six Feet Under' was a highly acclaimed show at the time.
Despite not securing the main role, Scott later made a guest appearance in the show's second season as Hall's onscreen boyfriend, Ben Cooper.
Scott went on to achieve significant success, notably as Ben Wyatt in 'Parks and Recreation' and currently as the lead in the critically acclaimed Apple TV+ series 'Severance', for which he has received Emmy nominations.
