Taylor Swift's new album, The Life of a Showgirl, has been released, with fans speculating one track is aimed at Charli XCX.
The song “Actually Romantic” features lyrics such as “I heard you call me ‘Boring Barbie’ when the coke’s got you brave” and “High-fived my ex and then you said you’re glad he ghosted me”.
Fans believe Swift's lyrics are a rebuttal to Charli XCX's song “Sympathy is a Knife”, which includes lines about not wanting “her” backstage at her boyfriend's show, believed to reference Swift's past relationship with 1975 frontman Matty Healy.
Neither artist has confirmed the speculation, though both have publicly complimented each other recently, and Charli XCX previously supported Swift on her 2018 'Reputation' tour.
Charli XCX has attempted to distance “Sympathy is a Knife” from Swift, stating it is about her own insecurities and anxieties.
