Valerie Mahaffey has died at the age of 71
Emmy-winning actress Valerie Mahaffey, known for her roles in Young Sheldonand Desperate Housewives, has died at age 71 after being diagnosed with cancer.
Mahaffey's husband, Joseph Kell, confirmed her death, stating, “America has lost one of its most endearing actresses”.
Mahaffey began her career on Broadway in the 1970s and 80s before transitioning to television and film.
She won a supporting actress Emmy in 1992 for her role on Northern Exposure as well as guest appearances on numerous other TV shows including Cheers, CSI, Seinfeld, The Mindy Project and Grey’s Anatomy.
Fans and colleagues have shared tributes on social media, praising her talent and memorable performances in various roles throughout her career.
