  • An abandoned coal-burning power plant on Manresa Island, Connecticut, is set to be transformed into a multi-story family attraction and a 125-acre waterfront park called Manresa Wilds.
  • Designed by Bjarke Ingels Group (Big) and landscape architects Scape, the ambitious project is scheduled to open in 2030.
  • The attraction will feature a glass façade, swimming pools, water slides, restaurants, and event spaces, while the park will include walking paths, restored wetlands, and a public beach.
  • The site, previously polluted and inaccessible for 75 years, aims to become a unique destination where nature, history, and imagination converge, offering ecological and educational opportunities.
  • Manresa Wilds is anticipated to deliver significant environmental benefits, including wetland revitalisation, and provide economic advantages for the local Norwalk community.
