McDonald'sJapan cancelled a Happy Meal campaign featuring coveted Pokemon cards after resellers purchased the meals and discarded the food.
The meals, known as Happy Sets in Japan and intended for children, sold out within a day due to high demand from collectors.
Mounds of wasted food were found near McDonald's outlets, leading the company to issue an apology for its inadequate preparations.
McDonald's stated that the situation contradicted its long-held philosophy of offering a fun dining experience for families.
The company plans to implement measures such as limiting the number of meals per customer and ending online orders to prevent similar incidents in the future.
