Full list of US federal holidays in 2026 including New Year’s Day

  • The U.S. will recognize eleven federal holidays in 2026, one less than 2025, which featured Inauguration Day.
  • New Year’s Day is a federal holiday celebrated on Thursday, Jan. 1, with Martin Luther King Jr’s birthday on Monday, Jan. 19, falling later in the month.
  • Washington’s birthday on Monday, Feb. 16, otherwise known as Presidents' Day, is a federal holiday, along with Memorial Day on Monday, May 25.
  • Friday, June 19, is Juneteenth National Independence Day, and Independence Day will be recognized on Friday, July 3 this year. Other federal holidays include Labor Day, on Monday, Sept. 7, Columbus Day on Monday, Oct. 12, Veterans Day on Wednesday, Nov. 11.
  • Finally, the last two federal holidays of the year are Thanksgiving Day on Thursday, Nov. 26 and Christmas Day on Friday, Dec. 25.
