NHS given ‘key’ tool that could change stroke patients’ lives
Vegan and vegetarian diets linked to increased risk of stroke, study finds
A new AI tool introduced by NHS England is revolutionising stroketreatment by enabling faster diagnosis and improving patient outcomes.
The technology reduces the time between a patient presenting with a stroke and receiving treatment by over 60 minutes, potentially tripling the likelihood of recovery without disability.
The AI software provides real-time interpretation of brain scans, allowing doctors to make quicker treatment decisions and administer vital interventions earlier.
The tool has been used for over 60,000 patient brain scans across 100 NHS stroke services since last summer, with all stroke centres in England now utilising the technology.
Patient experiences, such as that of Shawn Theoff, demonstrate how the rapid diagnosis facilitated by the AI has led to quicker recovery and reduced hospital stays.
