Public health alert issued for Trader Joe’s frozen pizza
Tuna cans sold at Trader Joe’s, Walmart and Costco recalled due to contamination risk
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) issued a public health alert for Trader Joe’s frozen uncured pepperoni pizza.
The alert was prompted because the product, imported from Italy, did not undergo the mandatory import re-inspection process.
A formal recall was not requested, as the pizza is no longer being sold and was exclusively available in Trader Joe’s stores in California.
Trader Joe’s explained the issue was due to a paperwork error and confirmed no adverse reactions have been reported from consumption.
This incident follows other recent safety concerns and recalls involving Trader Joe’s products, such as organic acai bowls and scented candles.
