Walking over 100 minutes a day can reduce long-term back pain, research says
A walking expert says you don’t need to walk 10,000 steps a day for most health benefits – here’s why
European research indicates that walking for over 100 minutes daily can significantly lower the risk of developing long-term back pain.
The study found that individuals walking more than 100 minutes a day had a 23 percent reduced risk of lower back problems compared to those walking 78 minutes or less.
Based on an assessment of over 11,000 people in Norway, the research highlights that the total amount of walking is more important than its intensity.
This discovery is particularly relevant as chronic back pain affects millions globally, with 16 million Americans experiencing daily activity limitations due to the condition.
Regular low-impact exercise is presented as an effective preventative measure, strengthening muscles, improving circulation, and mobilizing joints, potentially leading to significant healthcare savings.
