Aung San Suu Kyi’s son pleads with Myanmar’s military dictatorship to free his mother
The son of Aung San Suu Kyi, Myanmar's 80-year-old leader, has issued a stark warning about her deteriorating health, specifically a worsening heart condition.
Kim Aris, her son, is urging the ruling military junta to grant her urgent medical care, including access to a cardiologist from outside the prison.
Ms Suu Kyi has been in solitary confinement since the military coup in February 2021 and was sentenced to 33 years on charges widely condemned as politically motivated.
Her son has appealed to the global community to intervene and help secure her release, emphasising the urgency of her condition and the injustice of her continued imprisonment.
International rights groups have also raised concerns about the cruel conditions of her detention.
