Mattel pays tribute to Barbie designers killed in car crash

  • Barbie designers Mario Paglino and Gianni Grossi died in a head-on car crash on Italy’s A4 Turin-Milan highway.
  • The collision involved an 82-year-old driver, Egidio Ceriano, who was reportedly driving the wrong way for approximately four miles.
  • Ceriano also died in the incident, along with Amodio Valerio Giurni, a passenger in Paglino and Grossi’s vehicle, while Silvia Moramacro was hospitalized.
  • Mattel, the maker of Barbie, released a statement expressing heartbreak and gratitude for the duo's artistry and contributions to the brand and collector community.
  • Paglino and Grossi were celebrated for their custom and celebrity dolls, including those of Madonna, and their significant charitable work.
