Divers make unusual discovery while searching for couple missing since 1970

Over 90 cars discovered by dive team in Chicago River
  • A search for Edward and Stephania Andrews, a couple missing since 1970, led to the discovery of nearly 100 submerged vehicles in the Chicago River.
  • The Chaos Divers, a search and recovery team, conducted the dive last week as part of a renewed effort to solve the half-century-old cold case.
  • The Andrews disappeared on May 15, 1970, after leaving a cocktail party in downtown Chicago, and their 1969 Oldsmobile was never found.
  • Despite locating 97 cars, none of the vehicles found have been identified as belonging to the missing couple.
  • Chicago police have not yet provided an update or explanation regarding the discovery of the numerous submerged cars.
