When children are more at risk of getting long Covid

A study found that children who contract Covid twice are at double the risk of developing long Covid.
Second infections in children significantly increase the risk of serious conditions such as myocarditis (tripled risk) and blood clots (more than double risk), alongside fatigue and pain.
Based on over 465,000 US children's health records, the findings challenge the perception that Covid in children is 'mild' or that re-infections carry less risk.
Long Covid currently affects nearly 6 million children in the US, with symptoms ranging from brain fog to chest pain, potentially lasting months or years.
Researchers and the American Academy of Pediatrics advocate for child vaccinations, stating that more vaccinations lead to fewer infections and subsequently less long Covid, despite a previous administration's decision to limit recommendations.
