Constance Marten and partner jailed for manslaughter of baby
Moment Constance Marten arrested by police
Aristocrat Constance Marten and her partner, convicted rapist Mark Gordon, have been sentenced to 14 and 18 years in prison respectively for the gross negligence manslaughter of their infant daughter.
The baby, named Victoria, perished in a flimsy tent on the South Downs in bitter cold while her parents were on the run to prevent her from being taken into care.
Judge Mark Lucraft KC, at the Old Bailey, stated that neither parent showed genuine remorse, instead focusing on themselves and blaming others for their child's death.
Marten and Gordon were earlier convicted of child cruelty, perverting the course of justice, and concealing the birth of a child, having hidden Victoria's remains in a Lidl bag.
Marten has already lodged an appeal against her conviction.
