Father found guilty of murdering premature baby son in hospital
Moment father is arrested over the murder of his two-week-old son
- This is the moment a father was arrested after murdering his two-week-old son, Brendon Staddon, in a neonatal ward.
- Daniel Gunter inflicted “catastrophic injuries” on Brendon, including a crushed head, broken neck, jaw, legs, ankles, and wrists at Yeovil District Hospital on 5 March, 2024.
- After causing the fatal injuries, Gunter, 27, left the hospital for a cigarette, leaving nurses to attempt to resuscitate the baby.
- Bodycam footage released by Avon and Somerset Police showed Gunter repeatedly questioning his arrest outside the hospital; he was later found guilty of murder.
- Brendon’s mother, Sophie Staddon, 23, was cleared of causing or allowing the death of a child; Gunter will be sentenced at a later date.
