Leaked emails reveal Sarah, Duchess of York, apologised to Jeffrey Epstein in April 2011, describing him as a "steadfast, generous and supreme friend".
This correspondence occurred weeks after she publicly disavowed Epstein, stating she would "never have anything to do with" the convicted sex offender.
Her spokesperson clarified that the Duchess sent the email to "assuage Epstein and his threats" after he allegedly threatened to sue her for defamation.
The Duchess had previously expressed deep regret for her association with Epstein, apologising for accepting £15,000.
The email reportedly indicated she was "bedridden with fear" and "paralysed" by advice to avoid contact, fearing further problems for herself and "the Duke".
