Duchess of York’s Epstein email was spurred by ‘chilling’ phone call
Duchess of York dropped as patron by multiple charities over leaked Epstein emails
Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, sent a sympathetic email to Jeffrey Epstein, referring to him as a “supreme friend”, weeks after saying she would have nothing to do with the convicted paedophile.
Her spokesperson told The Telegraph that the email was sent after Epstein made a “chilling” phone call, threatening to “destroy” her and her family in a “Hannibal Lecter-style” manner.
The alleged threats followed Ms Ferguson's 2011 interview where she called her connection to Epstein a “terrible error of judgement” and vowed to cut ties with him.
The Duchess has subsequently been dropped by seven charities, including Julia’s House and the Teenage Cancer Trust, due to the controversy surrounding the email.
The spokesperson described Epstein's threatening call as cold, calm, and menacing, which led to Ms Ferguson sending a “placating” email to avoid further harm.
