  • Nine people have died after a fire broke out at the Gabriel House assisted living facility in Fall River, Massachusetts.
  • Firefighters were called to the facility at approximately 9:50 p.m. on Sunday, encountering heavy smoke and flames with residents trapped inside.
  • Around 70 people live at the facility, and many were rescued, with some taken to local hospitals for varying conditions, and five firefighters sustaining non-life-threatening injuries.
  • Police officers bravely entered the smoke-filled building, breaking down doors and physically carrying out approximately a dozen non-ambulatory residents to safety.
  • The origin and cause of the devastating fire are currently under investigation by state and local authorities.
