  • California Governor Gavin Newsom challenged Trump's border czar, Tom Homan, to arrest him after Homan threatened to apprehend anyone interfering with ICE's crackdown on illegal immigration in Los Angeles.
  • Newsom accused Trump of "manufacturing a crisis" and "inflaming conditions" by sending the National Guard to assist local law enforcement during protests against ICE arrests.
  • Newsom criticised Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio for provoking violence, militarising cities, and arresting opponents, likening their actions to those of a dictator.
  • Trump retaliated on Truth Social, calling Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass "incompetent" and criticizing their handling of the unrest and wildfires.
  • ICE operations in Los Angeles County have resulted in 118 arrests of accused illegal immigrants, amid clashes between protesters and law enforcement involving tear gas and fireworks.
