Starvation persists in Gaza despite increased aid deliveries, with Palestinians describing the search for food as a perilous “death journey”.
The UN's humanitarian office reports that over 1,373 Palestinians have been killed while attempting to reach aid since May, predominantly near aid distribution sites and often by the Israeli military.
The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) denies responsibility for the fatalities, attributing them to Hamas's alleged disinformation and aid theft, though this claim is questioned by some Israeli and US analyses.
US officials, including an ambassador and a special envoy, have commended the GHF's work, and President Donald Trump has proposed a new US humanitarian aid plan for Gaza involving new food centres.
Gazans say that diplomatic efforts and current aid initiatives, including air drops, are largely symbolic and insufficient, failing to alleviate the severe hunger crisis on the ground.
