Flights cancelled across Europe after cyber attack
Heathrow Airport has been hit by the cyber attack (PA Archive)
A cyberattack on Collins Aerospace, a provider of check-in and boarding systems, caused widespread disruption at several major European airports.
London's Heathrow, Brussels Airport, and Berlin Airport were significantly affected, leading to flight delays and cancellations on Saturday.
The 'cyber-related disruption' rendered electronic check-in and baggage drop systems inoperable, necessitating manual processing at the affected airports.
Brussels Airport reported 10 flight cancellations and an average one-hour delay for all departing flights, causing considerable frustration among passengers.
While some airlines like EasyJet operated normally and Frankfurt Airport was unaffected, the incident highlighted vulnerabilities in airport technology systems.
