Welsh Labour politician Hefin David, the Member of the Senedd for Caerphilly, has died suddenly aged 47.
First Minister of Wales and Welsh Labour leader Eluned Morgan confirmed his death, describing him as a “much-loved” member of the Labour family.
Mr David had served as the MS for Caerphilly since 2016, having previously been elected as a councillor for the area in 2007.
Before his political career, he worked as a senior lecturer in human resource management at Cardiff Metropolitan University.
Tributes have been paid by politicians from across the Senedd, including Andrew RT Davies and Delyth Jewell, and Gwent Police Chief Constable Mark Hobrough, all highlighting his dedication and impact.
