  • The incident involved a Robinson R44 II helicopter operated by Northumbria Helicopters, which departed from Sandown Airport around 9 am.
  • Four people, including the pilot, were on board the aircraft when it came down in a field near Ventnor.
  • Emergency services, including air ambulance and fire crews, rushed to the scene, and a major incident was initially declared.
  • The Air Accidents Investigation Branch has deployed a team to investigate the cause of the crash, which is not yet confirmed.
