Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has conveyed his “deep regret” to Qatar's prime minister for a strike in Doha that killed a Qatari national.
The apology was made during a joint call with US President Donald Trump, following an Israeli airstrike on 9 September aimed at Hamasceasefire negotiators.
The strike, which also killed five low-ranking Hamas members, was condemned by Qatar as a “cowardly attack” and a violation of its sovereignty.
Mr Netanyahu said that Israel would not conduct such an attack again, a condition Qatar had set for resuming its crucial mediation between Israel and Hamas.
The White House has also unveiled a 20-point proposal for an immediate Gaza ceasefire, which Netanyahu accepted and Hamas is currently reviewing.
