Israel vows to ‘respond forcefully’ after accusing Iran of ceasefire violation hours after deal

  • A ceasefire plan proposed by Donald Trump to end the 12-day conflict between Israel and Iran was accepted by both nations.
  • Israel's defence minister Israel Katz said Iran "completely violated" the ceasefire by launching missiles into Israeli airspace less than three hours after it took effect.
  • Following the alleged violation, Mr Katz instructed the Israeli military to resume targeting Iranian paramilitary and government sites and to “respond forcefully”.
  • Earlier, Iranian barrages had killed at least four people and injured 20 in Israel, causing damage to residential buildings in Beersheba.
  • The conflict has resulted in at least 28 deaths and over 1,000 wounded in Israel, while Israeli strikes in Iran have killed at least 974 people and wounded 3,458, according to the Washington-based group Human Rights Activists.
