Peace talks in London regarding the war in Ukraine were downgraded after US Secretary of State Marco Rubio cancelled his attendance.
US Vice President JD Vance urged Ukraine and Russia to accept the US peace proposal or risk the US withdrawing from negotiations. The proposal includes a ceasefire, direct talks, and recognition of Russian control over occupied territories.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky rejected the US proposal, stating that the occupied territories belong to Ukraine. He insists on a full ceasefire as a precondition to further talks.
Downing Street affirmed the UK's commitment to supporting Ukraine.
Russia's Finance Minister Anton Siluanov stated the need to increase fiscal reserves to cover budget spending in the face of global uncertainty and potential extended low oil prices.
