The John Lewis Partnership (JLP) is undertaking its largest ever recruitment drive, hiring 13,700 temporary staff for the upcoming Christmas and January sales period.
These seasonal roles include 3,000 positions in John Lewis department stores, 8,500 in Waitrose shops, and nearly 2,200 across its warehouses and supply chain network.
The retailer anticipates approximately 30 million visitors to John Lewis shops during the festive season, with its warehouses preparing to dispatch over two deliveries per second.
JLP's chief people officer, Jo Rackham, emphasised the crucial role seasonal teams play in providing excellent customer service during this busy time.
This recruitment drive comes as the employee-owned JLP plans significant investment, including a new Waitrose store by 2027, despite staff having missed their annual bonus for the third consecutive year.
