Kamala Harris compared the grief of losing the 2024 presidential election to the pain she experienced after her mother's death.
Appearing on 'The View' to discuss her memoir '107 Days', Harris described reflecting on the election loss as one of the most difficult parts to write: ‘that night, I grieved in a way that I have not since my mother died.’
She clarified that her pain stemmed from what the election outcome meant for the country, rather than the personal loss of the race, attributing the defeat partly to insufficient time.
Harris disagreed with suggestions that racism and sexism were primary factors in her loss, expressing belief that a woman president will eventually be elected.
She criticised Donald Trump, who won the election, claiming he lied, weaponised the Department of Justice, silenced critics, and acted like an 'emperor' to fulfil his ego.
