Sir Keir Starmer urged Iran to return to negotiations after Donald Trump launched US air strikes on the regime’s nuclear facilities.
The Prime Minister stated that Iran’s nuclear program is a “grave threat” and the US military action aimed to “alleviate” it.
The US attacked three Iranian nuclear sites, including the deeply buried Fordo facility, with Donald Trump declaring them “completely and fully obliterated”.
Donald Trump warned of potential further strikes if Iran retaliates, while Iran’s foreign minister warned of “everlasting consequences” and reserved options for retaliation.
The UK was not involved in the strikes, which occurred despite Sir Keir Starmer and Foreign Secretary David Lammy advocating for a diplomatic solution.
